Home Laundry Tip
Summer is around the corner, and for many people, that means enjoying time outside. Whether your child is going away to camp, or you enjoy sleeping under the stars yourself, a clean sleeping bag is an absolute must!
Of course, since a sleeping bag is often used outside, its natural that it will get a little dirty. Before using your sleeping bag this season, take a good look at the bag&and a good sniff. If your sleeping bag smells moldy, or like an old campfire, or feels grimy inside, its time to get it cleaned.
Just ask us: We can handle any type of sleeping bag. Some bags should be dry cleaned, while others should be laundered. In either case, well use gentle agitation to make sure the fill doesnt shift. We always properly size each load to ensure maximum rinsing. Dont try to clean the bag yourself: most home laundry machines and dryers simply arent equipped to handle bulky sleeping bags. They can put stress on the seams, causing tears, and a regular-sized dryer is too small to properly reloft and dry down or other types of fill.
In addition to getting your sleeping bag clean for your next adventure, we can also mend any small holes or fix zippers that have gotten stuck. When you bring in your sleeping bag to us, please remember that it may take a few extra days to get it cleaned properly.
Sleeping bags usually require double rinsing and extra drying time.
Once your sleeping bag is cleaned, youll be ready to tackle the great outdoors.
Get Organized Now!
Its time for spring cleaning, and that means youre ready to put away those sweaters and long sleeves until the fall.
Before you shove all that stuff into some boxes or the back of a closet, why not take stock and get organized?! The first step to organizing your closet and drawers is to choose a time when youll have the chance to try clothes on, especially those you havent worn in a long time.
Your next step is to divide your clothes into three categories: give away, repair, and keep.
The give away group should be easy. These are the clothes that you know (okay, its time to fess up) that you never wear. Whether its an item that you loved in the store, thought youd get into one day, or wore 10 years ago; its time to bid adieu. Next on your list: the repair group. These are items that you would wear if they were mended or altered. Bring them in to us immediately and well be happy to help you out. Dont delay!
Last but not least is the keep group. These items should be clothes that you wear often. For the fall and winter items that need to go into storage, please remember to bring them to Pressed4Time, for dry cleaning so we can get rid of beverage, food and perspiration stains.
Remember, cleaning is the key to preventing insect damage during storage. And be sure to tell us that items are being cleaned for storage; that way, well avoid using sizing and starch, which can also attract insects.
Yes, There are Some Things
Some of our customers tell us were miracle workers. While its true that were very good at lots of clothing care problems, there are some things weor any cleanerjust cant do.
Remove all stains. There are just some stains that we cant get out, especially stains that have already set.
Prevent some colors from bleeding or fading. Some manufacturers simply dont apply dyes correctly. Also, fabric dyes can be damaged by alcohol found in perfumes and hair products. Some dyes can even fade because of exposure to sunlight.
Prevent relaxation or progressive shrinkage. Knitted garments, particularly acrylic fabrics, tend to stretch when exposed to heat.
Reverse worn or torn areas caused by wear, perspiration, damage caused by insects or liquid spills. You may need to replace the item; repair may be out of the question.
Fix excessive shine on clothes caused by wear or excessive heat from home ironing. If you burn or singe a fabric while ironing, youre out of luck.
Dont despair; there are plenty of things we CAN do for you. Give us a chance! Just ask your Pressed4Time representative and well do our best to help.
Home Laundry Tip
A little dab will work wonders. One of our favorite secret weapons in our home- cleaning arsenal is shampoo. Thats right, shampoo! You can purchase a bottle of the cheap stuff, or use the small travel-size bottles you get at hotels. Shampoo is especially useful in treating problems like dirty collars or removing cosmetic stains. Just wet the fabric and rub a little shampoo in. Then launder as usual. Youll be pleasantly surprised at the results!
