Too often during the year, we are all so busy that we dont appreciate what really counts: family and friends. No matter how "pressed for time" you are, be sure to make time for the important people in your life.
We wish you, your family and co-workers much happiness and joy, not only during the holiday season, but also in the coming year ahead.
Shoes and Boots: Some Quick Winter Tips
At this time of year, the weather can really take a toll on shoes and boots, especially in climates that receive a great deal of snow or rain. Here are some tips to help you navigate your way!
* Nothing can feel as chilly as putting your dry feet into damp winter boots. Before putting your boots on, you can warm and dry them by simply using your hair dryer. Undo any zippers or laces and place the nozzle of the hair dryer in the top of each boot for about five minutes. Theyll be toasty and dry in no time!
* Keep a rag that has been coated with petroleum jelly in a sealed plastic container near your boot rack. Every time you leave the house or come back, give the boots a quick rub with the cloth. Not only will this get rid of any salt marks, it will also preserve the leather. Another way to get rid of salt marks is to sponge on a half-and-half solution of vinegar and warm water and then wipe dry.
* One final tip that may help you keep track of your footwear: If the bottom of your closet is a tangle or shoes, here's a quick and easy solution: save shoeboxes and cut one end out of each box. Put the shoes in the boxes and stack them, with the open end out, on the shelf or floor. You can also purchase inexpensive shoe holders or shoe bags at many discount stores.
Holiday Time-Saving Ideas
Everyone agrees that time is at a premium for most people these days, and somehow the holiday season seems to make this situation even more difficult. Whether you're entertaining, buying gifts, attending events or simply trying to get to work on time every day, here are some tips we hope will help make your life a little easier.
* Streamline the gift-giving process by buying gift certificates or cards. In addition to store gift cards, you can also purchase health club or spa certificates, hotel or motel getaway certificates, or even restaurant gift certificates. Or how about something practical like gift cards for the supermarket, post office, or telephone company? Here's one gift certificate idea that's sure to be a winner: gift certificates from Pressed4Time. It's a gift that will truly be appreciated by friends and family. Just ask us, and we'll provide you with more information about our gift certificate options.
* Save time before the doorbell rings. Company coming for dinner and need to clean the house? Use an apron to save time. Not only will it protect your clothes while you clean, you can also place spray cleaner, cloths and other cleaning equipment in the front pocket to save time.
* Be prepared! Don't have a washer and dryer at home? Before heading to the Laundromat, make up a load of laundry in a pillowcase and add the correct amount of detergent. That way, you don't have to lug detergent boxes or bottles with you and you'll have an extra hand to bring holiday greeting cards to address!
Home Laundry Tip
Parties abound at holiday time. Mix fun and frivolity with lots of people in a limited amount of space, and the inevitable is sure to occur: food and beverage spills. If you or one of your guests happen to spill soda on your clothes, here's an easy fix: First, blot up the stains with cold water and a white napkin, towel or paper towel. Then, mix a half-and-half combination of rubbing alcohol and water. Rinse the spot with the solution. Once it's gone, pretreat and wash the item as usual.
But what if the soda falls on the rug? After blotting (don't rub) as much as you can, mix a solution of dish detergent and water (figure about 20 parts water to one part detergent). Blot, rinse and blot again.
