Stains: Beverages to Fruits
All stains are not created equal! Different types of stains require different treatment if you want your garment to look like new again. Tannin stains are classified as stains from items that range from alcoholic beverages, soda, tea, coffee and beer, to felt-tip or washable marker to berries like cranberries, raspberries and strawberries to fruit and vegetable juices like tomato, apple, grape and orange.
For fresh tannin stains, run the area under cold water and use a regular wash cycle with the hottest water the fabric can take. Believe it or not, soap of any kind or soap flakes actually make tannin stains harder to remove and can set the stain permanently. Set-in tannin stains require a little more effort. They will likely need to be treated several times and may need to be washed with liquid chlorine or all-fabric bleach. You can even try making a paste of baking soda and water and applying it directly to the stain.
